A Hardware Key (HASP), also called a “dongle”, is a software copy protection device that plugs into the USB port of the computer. Upon startup, the application looks for the key and will run only if the key contains the appropriate code.
How do I find my HASP ID?
To find the HASP ID or Serial Number of a CAM2®, do the following:
- Plug dongle into the computer.
- Open up a web browser.
- Select Sentinel Keys from the left hand side.
- Find the Key ID number with a Key Type of HASP HL. This the HASP ID of the CAM2 Dongle.

Can you use hasp4 hardware key on LPT port?
I use an old software protected with HASP4 hardware key to be installed on LPT port. OS must be Windows 32-bit, bacause newer HASP drivers for 64-bit systems cannot support this old piece of hardware (and an old software for 32-bit systems cannot be installed on 64-bit machine).
Is there a problem with the LPT1 key?
The obvious problem is the software won’t run until it see’s the dongle. I have started from the ground up and I can change many aspects of the LPT port in the BIOS (SPP, EPP, ECP – use DMA i/o 0378 default, etc etc) I also have set the hardware within Windows to “Use any interrupt” and “Enable Legacy Plug and Play” and always use the LPT1.
How does a HASP dongle talk to a PC?
In case of Memo-x, NetHASP, TimeHASP, HASP36,HASP4 the PC talks to dongle via D0-D7 wires (pin 2 ..9 on D25 parallel port connector, in the case of LPT). The dongle answers to PC via “PaperEnd” (pin 12 ) wire.
Is there an older HASP key for Windows 10?
At this point I’ve installed the software to run our old unsupported router and it installed perfectly on this Windows 10 Pro x32 (ver 1511 build 10586.218) installation. The obvious problem is the software won’t run until it see’s the dongle.
