What happened Duke Gardens?
After 43 years of operation, Duke Gardens were closed to the public in 2008. After an extensive strategic planning process and the beginning of a transitional phase, the 2,740-acre property at Duke Farms has refocused its programs and operations to become an environmental showcase and learning center.

Is Duke Chapel open to the public?
Open to the public from 10 am – 8 pm daily unless noted on the Chapel calendar. Also open for Sunday in-person worship. Please visit the Chapel website for the current schedule of events.
Can you take pictures at Duke Gardens?
Promotional photos & photo policy Duke Gardens may photograph visitors and program participants on occasion for promotional purposes. By entering Duke Gardens, visitors are granting their permission to be included in such photographs.
Do you have to pay to go to Duke Farms?
Admission to Duke Farms is free, although some programs carry a fee. The park open six days a week, closed on Wednesdays.
Can you get married at Duke Farms?

Can you drink in Duke Gardens?
Visitors should plan to bring water or other drinks, since the vending machine will not be functioning, and the Terrace Café and Terrace Shop will not be open. The Doris Duke Center will also be closed, aside from its restrooms during limited hours.
Is Duke a closed campus?
Duke still has limited facilities and activities for visitors, but campus is reopening with public health measures in place. To protect the health and safety of our campus and local communities, all visitors to Duke are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to coming to campus.
Are dogs allowed at Sarah P Duke Gardens?
Dogs are only permitted before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. daily. Dogs must be on a non-retractable leash 6 feet or shorter. Duke Gardens reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any dog thought to be dangerous to visitors or other dogs.
