What happens when complain to pals?
The PALS Team will liaise on your behalf with the service you or your relative received the care and treatment from who will investigate the concern. The service will thoroughly investigate every aspect of your formal complaint and you will receive a written response within 25 working days.

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) offers confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters. They provide a point of contact for patients, their families and their carers. You can find PALS officers in your local hospital.
How long does it take for pals to respond?
You are of course free to decide who you want to contact initially in order to resolve your concerns. PALS is a less formal route for more immediate issues and the service aims to respond in a more informal way within 15 working days.

How does the PALS office at York teaching hospital work?
Designed to be more visible and accessible, the office includes a separate room which provides a confidential environment where patients and relatives are able to speak face to face with a member of the PALS team, if they wish to do so.
